  • Le mucuna a été vulgarisé au Bénin pour améliorer la fertilité des sols lessivés et lutter contre l’invasion des champs par Imperata cylindrica. Il produit d’énormes quantités de graines dont une infime proportion est utilisée sous forme de semences. Les graines de mucuna renferment divers facteurs antinutritionnels dont la L-dopa constitue l’élément majeur.   • Mucuna pruriens is being intesively used to foght off the couch grass imperata cylindrica and restore washed out lithosol soil fertility in most of the agro-ecological zones of Benin. From the huge amount of grains harvested, only a small quantity is used as seeds. Several anti nutritional factors have been identified in mucuna seeds.
