  • Abstract

  • English abstract
  • Feeding the herd is one of the main obstacles to the development of the livestock sector, especially in the dry season. It would therefore be interesting if food supplements were brought to the sheep in order to allow them to externalize their production capacities. The research was carried out at the sheep's national center of the stock farm of Betecoucou. It concerned thirty two Djallonke sheep averaging initial live weight of 13.60 ± 0.41 kg. They were divided individually into four feeding groups of eight heads each and all received Panicum maximum forages. Animals from group 1 were supplemented with cotton seed cake (R1) and the ones from group 2 received 50% of cotton seed cake and 50% of Okara (R2) the supplementation of the sheep’s group 3 was composed of 25% of cotton seed cake and 75% of Okara (R3). Animals from group 4 were supplemented with Okara (R4).After an adaptation period of 15 days followed by a fattening period of 60 days, the digestibility of dry matter, organic and total nitrogen was determined. Analysis of the variance revealed a significant (p < 0.0011) difference between the digestibility coefficient of the total nitrogenous matter and the digestible nitrogenous matter (p < 0.0320) of the antennas of the four batches. The digestibility of total nitrogen content of diets (dMAT) varied on average from 55.26 to 84.19%. The energy values (EB, ED, EM and UFL) of the different diets revealed an energy variability (p <0.01) for the studied feed. From the EB point of view, the R4 ration (4,182.48 Kcal/kg DM) was the lowest in gross energy. The same trend has been observed in metabolizable energy (ME). Analysis of the variance revealed a significant (p < 0.0442) difference between the MAD/UFL ratio of the antennas of the four batches. The ratio MAD/UFL of lot R4 was higher than those of batches R1, R2 and R3 respectively of 9, 70 and 17 points. The complete substitution of okara fattening on Djallonke sheep is the most digestible compared to other food rations.
