- For adequate contribution to pineapple fertilization, this study aims to optimize the use of compost to increase the productivity and profitability of pineapple on ferrallitic ground in southern Benin. The experimental device used was a split plot with three replicates of two factors (dose of compost and soil cover with a cloth of polyethylene). The combination of 10 t/ha of compost with soil cover with polyethylene cover has allowed to obtain the average yield of pineapple 87.78 t/ha. This average yield is higher by 4.89 t/ha to the average yield of pineapple obtained with the addition of 5 t/ha of compost on the plot covered by polyethylene fabric. The average yield of pineapple of 87.78 t/ha is higher by 10.05 t/ha and 17.56 t/ha than the average yields of pineapples respectively obtained with the input of 10 t/ha and 5 t/ha of compost on bare soil. Ground cover with polyethylene cover amplifies the effect of compost applied on the pineapple’s yield. The highest value of cost / benefit ratio, 0.59, is obtained with the application of10 t / ha of compost on the ground covered
