Efficacité technique et rentabilité économique de la production de soja au Bénin
- Abstract
- Le niveau de production actuel de soja au Bénin ne permet pas de satisfaire la demande de plus en plus forte. Pourtant, de nombreuses Organisations Non Gouvernementales comptent sur la promotion du soja afin d’atténuer la malnutrition qui persiste en milieu rural. Ainsi, il est important d'explorer les possibilités d'améliorer sa production. L'objectif de l’article a été d'analyser la rentabilité économique et financière de la production de soja en fonction des groupes de producteurs constitués sur la base de leurs niveaux d'efficacité technique Une enquête a été conduite auprès d’un échantillon aléatoire stratifié de 93 producteurs de soja sélectionnés dans trois départements du Bénin. Le revenu agricole, le coût du travail familial, le coût de production et le profit ont été des indicateurs calculés pour analyser le niveau de rentabilité de la production de soja. Bien que le rendement moyen ait été faible, la production de soja était rentable. Le coût réel de production de soja était significativement différent suivant les groupes avec un revenu agricole significativement important pour les producteurs plus efficaces. Les producteurs techniquement faibles peuvent améliorer leur revenu agricole de plus de 12 fois s’ils gagnent en efficacité technique. Une formation sur les bonnes pratiques agricoles est nécessaire afin de rendre plus performante les unités de production du soja au Bénin.

- The current level of soybean production in Benin does not help to satisfy its growing demand. Many NGOs rely on soybean promotion to alleviate malnutrition that persists in rural areas. It was therefore important to explore the possibilities of improving its production. This paper analyzes the economic and financial profitability of soybean production according to their technical efficiency levels. A survey was conducted with a stratified sample of 93 soybean producers in three regions of Benin. Farm income, the family work's cost, the cost production and the net income were calculated as indicators for analyzing the profitability of soybean production. Although the average yield was low, the soybean production was profitable. The actual cost of soybean production was significantly different among groups, with a significantly higher farm income for more efficient producers. Technically weak producers can increase their farm income by more than 12 times if they improve their technical efficiency. Training on best agricultural practices is needed to make soybean farms p more profitable.
