- Abstract
- Bien que le Mali ait vécu une croissance modérée e l'économie et de l'agriculture au cours de la dernière décennie, les taux de malnutrition infantile restent alarmants. Selon les résultats issus de l'enquête démographique et de santé de 1995-96 ( EDS II ), 30% d'enfants de l'étude présentent un retard de croissance et 23% d'entre eux sont émaciés.
Les objectifs de cette synthèse sont passer en revue les principaux facteurs biologiques et sociaux qui sous tendent un mauvais état de santé et de nutrition chez les enfants; analyser les effets potentiels du développement agricole sur ces déterminants sous-jacenst; et relier ces résultats aux conditions du Mali, où les décideurs s'inquiètent des niveaux de malnutrition infantile révélés dans des études récentes, à l'instar de Enquête Démographique et de Santé ( EDS ) II.
