  • Abstract
  • English abstract
  • Research is one of the important means of development in general and agricultural sector in particular.
While actors and/or innovation itself are regarded as stimulating factors of performance, the present
paper endeavors to analyze research performance from actors’ perspectives. In order to measure the
performance of a partenarial university research in Benin, anthropological survey consisting of
screening researchers, their linkages to others and to experiments is pursued. Though, the analysis
does aim at functional efficacy, strategic efficacy, efficiency, effectiveness and relevancy of
researchers with respect to the process of agricultural innovation development. Emphasis is on the
degrees of aggreements and disaggreements with respect to dimensions of performance. Overall
results reveal deep disaggreements at three levels: in-between disciplines, within actors of different
status and positions, and related dimensions of performance at actors’ level. It is illustrative that
promoting scientific values and enforcing social status at the university are counterproductive of
successful partenarial research. Horizontal as well as vertical flows of information decline with higher
propensity to hierarchical relations. However, sample size, temporal issues and analytical tools are the
major constraints impeding on such an approach of research on research.
Key-words: Team research, researchers, disagreements, performance, University.
