  • Abstract
  • English abstract
  • The role of women on farms in the cotton areas is known with little precision. Research Farms in cotton-growing areas suffer from a lack of up-to-date knowledge in Francophone Africa. The liberalization of the cotton sectors is one reason for this.
The gaps in knowledge about the families of cotton farmers are even greater. Even at the time when cotton farms were more or less monitored, the social dimension of the farms was overlooked.
The role of women on farms in the cotton areas is known with little precision. Research is still incomplete to learn more about this role. However, the presence of women is permanent both in cotton production and in the diversification activities that attempts have been made to introduce, such as sesame and/or soybean, two cash income crops along with cotton.
The implementation of the FAM&COMM project (http://www.fam-comm.net/) has provided an opportunity to begin to understand the place of women on farms and their role in cash crop production.
